How the Placement Process Works
Choose a placement and apply
Explore destinations and roles on our website and submit an application. This helps us understand your interests, skills and what you’re looking for from your placement.
Application review
Our Programme Manager reviews your application to check suitability for the role and destination. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll invite you to the next stage.
Interview
You’ll be invited to a friendly video interview, usually around 40 minutes. This is a chance for us to get to know you better, answer your questions, and make sure the placement is right for you.
Placement matching and offer
If your interview is successful, we’ll match you with a suitable placement and send you an offer letter. Once you’re happy to proceed, you’ll secure your place by paying a deposit.
Documentation and checks
We guide you through the required paperwork, which may include terms and conditions, emergency contacts, references, and, where needed, police or background checks depending on the placement and destination.
Visa guidance and sponsorship
We support you through the visa process by explaining what to do and providing sponsorship where required, allowing you to stay for up to 12 months. You’ll complete the application and cover the visa cost, with clear guidance from us at every step.
Travel and final payments
You’ll book your flights and travel insurance, with advice from us if needed, and pay the final programme fee. We’ll make sure everything is in place for your departure.
Prepare for departure
We send you comprehensive pre-departure information so you know exactly what to expect. We also introduce you to your placement or host and arrange for you to be met when you arrive in the country.
Start your placement
You’ll begin your placement and settle into life abroad. Your placement is your main point of contact day to day, with New Ventures Worldwide always available for additional support if needed.
Ongoing support and check-ins
We stay in touch throughout your placement, checking in regularly and sending short surveys to make sure everything is going well. We also visit placements annually to ensure they continue to meet our quality standards.
After your placement
When your placement ends, you’ll have the opportunity to leave a review, join our alumni programme, and stay involved as an affiliate or ambassador, helping inspire future volunteers.
